The University of North Georgia is currently hiring for an IT Technician I - Institutional Student Worker on the Dahlonega campus. The IT Technician I is responsible for delivering fast, friendly, dependable, and customer-oriented audio/visual related services. The Technician is the "eyes and hands in the field", serving all sectors of IT but primarily supports video communications and A/V needs for both instructional and event support.
- Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and upgrades computing and A/V equipment including desktops, laptops, cameras and video conferencing equipment.
- Provides user assistance to faculty, staff, and students.
- Assist with computer inventory and tracking, equipment surplus, assist technicians with IT end point deployment.
- Supports audio-visual, presentation, and instructional technology.
- Provide assistance with Zoom and Microsoft Teams for virtual classes, meetings & events.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of incident management preferred. Knowledge of Windows/Macintosh operating systems and peripheral installation preferred.
- Knowledge of Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
- Knowledge of audio/visual cabling and equipment preferred.
- Ability to multi-task, manage workload, and meet deadlines.
- Must possess mobility to walk around campus and work in a regular office setting, strong verbal communication over phones, strength to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and valid US driver's license to operate vans and carts as needed.
- Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in the minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
- At least one year of experience working in an IT and/or Audio/Visual environment; or, an equivalent combination of education, certification and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
