Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and six years of experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. Grade 9 (Salaried)

Position Description:

Responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, and problem analysis of hardware, operating systems, and system software across all enterprise systems. Responsible for identification, isolation, and resolution of complex incidents across multiple technologies. Mentors other Systems Engineers in the installation, configuration, and administration of server hardware, storage equipment, system software, and complex cloud environments. Additional responsibilities include researching, planning for, and implementing cloud technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expert level technical support for Linux based systems, including Red Hat Satellite and Ubuntu Landscape.
  • Provide expert level technical support for Microsoft Windows Server based systems, including Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Provide deep technical support for the University's virtualization environment.
  • Provide deep technical support for the University's enterprise data storage environment.
  • Provide deep technical support for the University's enterprise backup and recovery environment.
  • Develop technology recommendations for servers, storage, and cloud environments.
  • Be a resource for the IT Helpdesk.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Expert level knowledge of Linux systems administration.
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Windows systems administration.
  • Experience with VMware administration.
  • Experience with a configuration management solution (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, etc.).
  • Experience working with enterprise hardware in a data center.
  • Experience with storage area network operations and management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud operations.
Target Compensation Maximum: $110,400

Target Compensation Minimum:  $73,600

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
