Position Overview
This position is primarily focused on excellent customer service to faculty/staff/students and other end-users in maintaining and providing technical support for the Wescoe Hall Auditoria. Wescoe 3139 and 3140 is a fully mediated lecture facility that encompasses two 270 seat auditoria. The role of this position is to provide technical set up and tear down of Audio Visual equipment, provide onsite tech support for the users of the facility, provide onsite guidance and assistance to faculty/instructors and outside customers in the use of the technology and manage all scheduling and reservation requests that come in via room scheduling. This position also provides general facilities management and coordination with campus facilities and operations to keep all aspects of the auditorium spaces in working order and provide proactive maintenance of the technology. Punctuality and attendance is a must, with normal class schedules running 8am till 5pm and night and weekend facility coverage as necessary. Responsibilities also include management of student hourly positions for daytime and night and weekend staffing needs. This position shares in responsibility for information security by following all applicable security policies and procedures. This position is authorized to manage, provision, and deprovision IT assets in accordance with established procedures in the performance of job duties. Additionally, this AV technician works as part of a team in the IT classroom technologies unit which provides technical needs across campus and may be asked to provide additional classroom support outside of the Wescoe auditoria.
This position is required to work on-site.
Job Description
60% - Sets up, monitors, and maintains instructional media equipment and facility space within the Wescoe Auditoria, to include morning set up and trouble shooting. Works closely with student employees to ensure proper class set up. Provides "one-on-one, hands-on" support, training and assistance for Faculty, Staff, and Students using facility media. Coordinates with room scheduling and student technicians in the preparation of scheduled special events.
20% - Keeps facility (Control Room, Prep Room, and 3 Auditoria) orderly, neat, and professional to accommodate both scheduled and non-scheduled visitations and provide proactive maintenance of the technology. Reports directly to the Classroom Technologies manager any problems or issues regarding the Wescoe Auditoria equipment or facilities. Interacts very closely with campus facilities and outside vendors, gathering quotes and researching new technologies for facility upgrades and seeks professional development to stay current on the technology. Setups accordingly for special events to include additional audio/visual, tables, chairs, etc. Provides additional classroom support across campus outside of the Wescoe facility as needed.
10% - Manages 4-5 student employees, setting schedules and assigning tasks.
5% - Receives confirmations from Scheduling Office of new, or changes to, reservations for Wescoe Auditoria. Updates and maintains Wescoe Auditoria events calendar. Notifies the Classroom Technologies Manager immediately of any potential scheduling conflicts and technical issues.
5% - Other duties as assigned.
