Nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Blue Ridge Community College has been equipping students, alumni, and employees with the knowledge and experience to transform themselves, the community, and the world for over 55 years. This position will be instrumental in managing and enhancing our information technology infrastructure. The position will require serving as a direct liaison to various college departments, supporting business information systems such as PeopleSoft. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in SharePoint, Office 365, and Microsoft Exchange. Experience in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECP) is desired. The ideal candidate will have significant general IT experience.
Responsibilities:

  • Business Information Systems Analyst:
    • Act as a liaison supporting systems such as PeopleSoft, facilitating effective communication between IT and department stakeholders.
    • Provide assistance with system usage and training as required.
  • SharePoint Administration:
    • Design, implement, and maintain SharePoint sites to support collaborative initiatives within our academic community.
    • Ensure the security and accessibility of SharePoint environments.
  • Office 365 Administration:
    • Manage and administer Office 365 applications, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Office 365 services.
  • Microsoft Exchange Administration:
    • Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Microsoft Exchange servers to facilitate seamless communication among faculty, staff, and students.
    • Monitor and optimize email systems for performance and reliability.
  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECP):
    • Utilize MECP to manage and deploy software, updates, and configurations across our diverse IT environment.
    • Implement best practices for endpoint security and compliance.
  • General IT Experience:
    • Apply your general IT experience to address a wide range of technology-related tasks in a higher education context.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the evolving IT needs of our academic community.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in SharePoint administration, Office 365 administration, Microsoft Exchange administration.
  • Significant general IT experience, showcasing a broad skill set.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to the unique challenges of the higher education sector.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software systems and share that knowledge with others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with faculty, staff, and students.
Additional Considerations
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: SharePoint, MCSA: Office 365, MECP) are a plus.
  • Experience in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECP)
