Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Research and Data Technology in the Office of Information Technology, the IT Project Management Associate will leverage their data, informatics and project management expertise to perform project management and implementation activities including: project planning, scope definitions, financial justifications, vendor selections, resource management, scheduling and controlling of complex enterprise-wide IT projects. The successful candidate will have significant technical hands-on experience with BI tools along with experience in project management. This role will require the ability to quickly brainstorm, develop/mock-up reporting and analytics solutions using the BI stack/tools for stakeholders. Members of the team are based in Houston, Texas with many in the department working remotely. Regular travel to the regional campus is not expected; however, there may be occasional site visits based on project needs.

 

The successful applicant will have demonstrated hands on technical experience working with data as part of their experience along with performing or leading data and analytics related projects.


Job Duties
  • Collaborates with project sponsors, stakeholders and team members to determine project scope and vision. Identifies project stakeholders and brings clarity on deliverables and related timelines.
  • Contributes directly to the development, maintenance, and support of the data warehouse that includes data ETL, API design and build, and data modeling to enhance the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Supports and leads assigned initiatives related to the Research and Data Technology team and works with team members to deliver planned solutions, products and services.
  • Develops and maintains project plans and related artifacts covering the status and progress of the project, including budget, timeline, and resource allocation.
  • Manages efforts between various stakeholders; coordinates project activities; assigns tasks and provide guidance to personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the project.
  • Gathers business requirements and assess stakeholder information needs to both utilize existing solutions from the data warehouse and evaluate new solutions.
  • Focuses on facilitating the delivery of informatics solutions including reports, dashboards and data models, and takes on hands-on development tasks towards the same. Recommends best practices and methodologies related to data applications and systems.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.  Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. 
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Epic EHR and/or experience utilizing data to improve clinical or research operations.
