Job Duties:

• Monitoring of data center infrastructure and environment, including chillers, air/water flow systems, cooling, fire suppression systems, security panels, generators, and UPS
• Monitoring of enterprise system servers, storage, applications, and networking services
• Supporting of after-hours help desk, assisting clients with routine service calls, providing customer support, and placing service tickets
• Installation and removal of data center hardware, including servers, switches, and storage appliances
• Monitoring of data center security, including monitoring of cameras and performing walkthroughs of monitored areas
• Tracking and reporting of all incidents encountered on shift

Minimum Education/Experience:

High School or General Educational Development diploma and six months of experience. Equivalent coursework in computer operations or information technology from a technical school or community college may be substituted for the required experience. Journey level requires an additional 6 months of education or experience.

Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing at East Carolina University. The Data Center is a critical support area under the direction of the Director of IT Enterprise Systems and Operations. This position is responsible for the installation and asset tracking of all physical hardware in the Data Center. The position also provides 24×7×365 monitoring and support escalation for the ECU Data Centers including Servers, Storage, Applications, Networking Campus Backbone, Intranet and Internet services.
