What you need to know:
TTI is a Texas based agency. This position has the flexibility of a hybrid remote option with a minimum of two days in a TTI Texas based office. This can be discussed further during the interview process.
The salary range for position is $95K - $103K. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
Job Summary:
The IT Manager for Systems plans, organizes, and manages IT services including data center management both physical and virtual, network planning and management, and all related services comprising technical infrastructure at Texas A&M Transportation Institute. This is achieved through the effective orchestration of people, processes, technology, and service providers. As an IT Manager III and a member of the IT Leadership Team, this person will apply extensive knowledge of a broad range of technologies and best practices to ensure that the Systems Team is operating at optimum levels of effectiveness and creating value for the business. The IT Manager III will develop and maintain collaborative, robust relationships with key business stakeholders. IT Manager III is responsible for directly managing the Systems Team. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
Essential Duties:
Systems and Infrastructure Service Oversight (40%)
Oversees the design and directs the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable systems and Azure cloud infrastructure that underpin TTI business and research operations.
Uses project management protocols to lead the planning, execution, and successful completion of large IT projects.
Develops and maintain positive relationships with vendors and service providers.
Ensures that security is embedded in all levels of infrastructure management through appropriate application of information security tools, policies, practices, and oversight.
Oversees the design and management of an ITIL-based service management practices.
Effectively complies with Incident, Change and Problem Management processes.
Oversees systems and infrastructure expenses.
Continually improve practices and services.
Systems Team Strategy and Management (25%)
Leads in the development of the Infrastructure and Cloud services sourcing strategy; manages effective vendor and partner relationships
Builds, leads, and develops a capable IT team that aligns with current and future strategy.
Coaches and develops direct reports.
Maintains currency on emerging technologies and platforms and provides direction on what technologies should be assimilated and/or integrated systems and infrastructure.
Conducts and attends meetings. Represents the agency at business meetings, conferences, and seminars.
Oversees training and professional development activities.
Collaboration and Leadership (15%
Leads in the development and implementation of technological roadmaps and ensures integration with the overall IT strategic plan.
Works closely with IT peers and the CIO on the IT service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources and budget.
Serves as a trusted technological adviser to IT leaders and business stakeholders, ensuring IT services meet their needs, and responds with agility to address changing business priorities.
Customer Support (15%)
Provides support and consultation for cloud services, enterprise, and research systems
Clearly communicates with IT and non-IT professionals to ensure effective use of services
Research problems and recommends solutions for customers
Provides training for customers on new systems or services
Provides on-call support on nights and weekends as needed/scheduled (Cloud Service Admin, Security Admin, Server Admin)
Division Support and Objectives (10%)
TTI and NIS.Builds and maintains a positive relationship with other agency units and personnel. Maintains positive relationships with external partners that assist in the development, funding, public relations, and overall success of
Models ethical, regulatory, and performance standards. Models and promotes the open sharing of information
Completes reports and summaries for management and users including project status reports, problem, reports, and progress summaries
Participates in training and professional development sessions.
Supports the success and objectives of TTI and NIS
Serves on committees inside and outside of NIS and TTI to develop technical standards and direction
Ensures that work is documented and in compliance with agency, departmental, and project management standards
Other Duties (5%)
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. (HS diploma + 4 YOE).
7 years of experience performing IT related work experience in IT
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.
Must have strong interpersonal skills. Prefer knowledge of Microsoft Azure, DevOps, and ITIL.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud systems. Experience with, Microsoft and Linux servers, compliance, and security programs. Basic knowledge of network security. Thorough knowledge and experience in technical writing and systems analysis.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to frequently communicate with other individuals within the workplace.
Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
