Job Summary
Auburn University is excited to begin the search for an IT Business Analyst/Senior IT Business Analyst! This individual will develop information technology strategies, polices and plans; perform maintenance and use of information technology resources; training and supporting technology users; telecommunications network planning, operations and site acquisition; programming software/database products for sale to external customers & operations. This job will serve as the primary technical contact for all applications, systems and IT processes running through the office of business and finance. You will take the lead with OIT technical resources, 3rd party support vendors and business process owners in troubleshooting problems, implementing new process or systems, and even running technical processes within this area.

Essential Functions
  • Analyzes and solves problems on complex computer applications and systems. Provides a wide range of in-depth technical assistance and guidance to campus constituents. Writes structured queries to extract and review data for the development team, as appropriate.
  • Analyzes current and proposed software systems. Provides queries and table structures as information to assist with the development of complex systems for various constituencies.
  • In collaboration with applicable finance users, review proposals which consist of objectives, scope, and client expectations. Reviews, evaluates, and provides feedback for software acquisitions.
  • Provides technical support for the implementation of new technologies for Business & Finance.
  • Acts as system administrator for current and new financial applications.
  • Assists with internal and external audit requests, including providing detailed data of transactions and entries for the applicable year under audit.
  • Responsible for annually rolling general ledger, procurement documents, budget, and opening accrual period at year-end for six charts.
  • Coordinate functional and complete technical testing of upgrades to the Financial Module of the University’s ERP system.
  • Monitor data feeds into ERP system, including but not limited to, Donor Management, AUM Refund, Student Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Facilities.
  • Ensure appropriate scheduling through Appworx for nightly report runs as well as month-end reports.
  • Send appropriate tax files to the Internal Revenue Service (e.g. 1099s) within federal deadlines.
  • Meet regularly with Developers to assist in translating user requests as well as assists in setting priorities for Developers.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
IT Business Analyst:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience OR
Associate’s Degree and 9 years of experience OR
High School/GED and 13 years of experience.
Typical salaries are between $68,200 – $81,100.
The salary grade for this level is $55,300 – $94,000
Sr. IT Business Analyst:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant IT experience to include business analyses, preferably in a university setting.
Typical salaries are between $75,867 – $91,833.
The salary grade for this level is $59,900 – $107,800
Experience: Relevant IT experience to include business analyses, preferably in a university setting.

Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications


Minimum Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of business systems analysis and current technological developments/trends.
  • Current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies with a detailed focus on deployment and integration.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
Minimum Technology Skills
  • Strong technical aptitude and computer skills.
  • Proficiency with professional computer systems and office applications.
