Job Summary
Information Technology (IT) provides information resources and technology services to the entire campus community in support of the university’s mission. IT also provides technical assistance in the design, acquisition, installation, and maintenance of campus systems, media, and telecommunications infrastructure including; desktop and laptop computer equipment; institutional databases; enterprise-wide applications; technology equipped classrooms, distance learning classrooms, telecommunications systems; centrally licensed software, online services, open-access and discipline specific computer labs, consulting, training, and user support. Information Technology provides assistance to EWU leadership in strategic planning for technology initiatives which strengthen both efficiency and effectiveness.
The IT Business Analyst-Journey position performs consulting, conducts needs assessments, and process and business analysis leading to technical process and system optimization. This position documents processes and procedures for existing and future systems/services. This position also identifies and resolves operational problems of selected IT systems.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or information technology or related discipline. Substantial experience may be substituted for formal education (4 years = substantial).
  • Two (2) years if experience implementing, managing, and/or administering systems.
  • Two (2) years of recent professional experience performing the business, process and systems analysis, requirement definition, and/or documentation.
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications in Business Analysis.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing in SQL.
  • Experience in using a well-structured life cycle management process for implementation of changes in applicable systems, including experience with project management and configuration management processes.
  • Knowledge and experience working in higher education and/or financial environment with areas dealing with information systems management and support systems.

    Analyst Duties. Provides analysis support for various business units and systems.
    • Works with stakeholders in conducting and defining needs assessments, configuration specifications, and business analysis, reporting, and alerting requirements; follows structured processes to determine requirements using various types of models or diagrams.
    • Analyzes requested system functionality to identify risks and gaps, which includes providing alternative solutions and making recommendations.
    • Identifies and creates documentation for systems and users.
    • Working with staff and stakeholders, performs testing and quality assurance.
    • Provides maintenance and operations support of assigned systems using tools such as source control or SQL.
    • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves moderate operational problems that affect supported business unit, department, and software module and/or technology areas.
