About the role:

The IT Business Analyst II will be a key contributor to our Operations technology portfolio, playing a crucial role in improving and maintaining critical business systems and optimizing operational processes. This role will act as a bridge between Operations business owners and the technical teams, facilitating the identification of technology needs, requirements gathering, functional design development, and solution exploration. The IT Business Analyst II will also provide support for ongoing projects and ensure the smooth operation of existing systems. In addition to these responsibilities, this role will encompass internal team documentation and the creation of user and training materials. This role will primarily support Janelia Administrative Operations, as well as cross-campus Operations including Facilities, Safety, Security and Campus Services.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate closely with Operations business owners to identify technology needs, gather requirements, develop functional designs, and recommend solutions.

  • Partner with capability teams to design, test, implement, and support new features, systems, and processes.

  • Establish productive relationships with business partners, and act as a liaison between those partners and the technical teams to clearly communicate support needs and provide status updates.

  • Provide production support, managing the escalation of issues as needed, to ensure systems are running effectively.

  • Create and maintain internal team documentation, as well as user and training materials.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business, related field or combination of education and relevant work experience. 

  • One to four years of experience in requirements gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements and processes.  

  • Experience in an analyst role across the full software development lifecycle: system analysis, requirements gathering, design, testing, documentation, training, production support.  

  • Experience with production and/or technical support experience including web-based, SaaS and custom-developed business applications and third-party systems.    

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, Jira, or similar tools, and experience with mockup tools preferred. 

  • Ability to lead/participate in multiple projects simultaneously and build strong relationships with business partners. 

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, while demonstrating a curiosity about the way things work and an ability to absorb new technologies and features quickly.

Compensation Range

$72,130.40 (minimum) - $90,163.00 (midpoint) - $117,211.90 (maximum)

Pay Type:

Annual

HHMI’s salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers. Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
