Position Focus:

The Associate Director of the Endpoint Engineering team is responsible for all aspects of the deployment and management of computing devices throughout the campus. Primary responsibilities include:

Leadership: Service leadership and accountability for operations and management of computers and endpoint devices throughout the campus.

Leads all communications relevant to the service, works closely with Yale Procurement, original equipment manufacturers and resellers and collaborates across ITS teams.

Strategic: Evaluates, develops, distributes and maintains endpoint device standards as well as the strategic roadmap for management of endpoint devices and associated management systems representing the entire customer environment; tracks and incorporates emerging technologies and industry best practices to assist in the evolution of Yale endpoint device and management standards.

Operations: Monitors, maintains and publishes operational data from management systems; monitors and distributes work from tickets originating from the University’s ServiceNow platform; responds to critical security imperatives through timely updates to the operating system; manages the backup and restore services for managed computing devices throughout the campus
.
Administration: Coordinates and documents device selection and bidding process; develops, reviews and approves detailed service diagrams and documentation. Exercises independent judgment toward the timely completion of strategic and operational imperatives. Hires, manages and develops personnel in accordance with University policy and ITS goals and objectives.


Essential Duties

1. Oversees and manages in the strategic planning process; disseminates strategic goals to the team and ensures goals are implemented; develops and establishes best practices.2. Manages, hires, develops existing as well as new staff; assists in the workforce staffing plans.3. Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems, and functional output of the department or work/objectives of a team/s.4. Participate in the development of communication plans for administrative, operational, or technical changes; determine timeline for the dissemination of communications and the support and resource requirements associated with each change. 5. Analyzes and resolves problems through drawing from prior experiences. Interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts, resource management in defined areas).6. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.


Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and eight years of experience or equivalent education and experience.

Proven ability to manage and develop staff.

Well-developed time management, organizational, oral, and written communication, and presentation skills.


Required Skill/Ability 3:

Proven ability to recognize problems and create effective plans.
