IT Architect Support Specialist

Job Summary 

The IT Architect Support Specialist works with the CES IT Architect and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Portfolio Architects to learn and support the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT architecture initiatives and projects. In this position, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and organize IT architecture design patterns for potential publication. You will build upon on understanding of IT infrastructure, including platform, security, network, and cloud, to help develop and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture and data flow diagrams. This position facilitates the publication of IT architectural artifacts and maintains the CES IT Architecture web portal. 

In this role, you will lead the logistics of the OIT Portfolio Architecture Council including the planning and preparation for Architects Roundtable and other architect meetings. The IT Architect Support Specialist supervises the daily work of a small team of IT architecture students or interns, ensuring they can complete work successfully and overcome roadblocks. You will become a mentor through assisting students in meeting their project goals. Additionally, this position keeps track of project details and progress (project scope, schedule, resources, and budget). 

What you'll do:  

  • Create and maintain technical documentation and artifacts including architecture and data flows 
  • Build and maintain architecture web sites, portals and other publications 
  • Keep track of project details and progress 
  • Help students meet project goals and overcome project challenges 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help influence the direction of projects 
  • Build presentations, diagrams and other documentation for different teams and audiences 
  • Organize and schedule team meetings, making all necessary arrangements

What we are looking for:  

Education and Experience:   

Minimum Required: 2 years of IT, product/project management, or business analysis education and/or experience 

Skills, abilities, or knowledge:  

You are not required to have experience in all areas listed below. What you don't know we can teach you. We are seeking the most qualified candidates; the more you have, the more likely you are to be selected. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skills. 

  • Understanding of product and project strategy and planning 
  • Problem management skills 
  • Responsive to team and customer needs 
  • Excellent listening skills, and verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills 
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with others on a team or across the unit to achieve results and synergy 
  • Ability to formulate innovative solutions to meet business needs 
  • Experience with programming or scripting and databases 
  • Version control with a system such as Git and Github 
  • Creation of diagrams and process flows 
  • Online content creation using standard content management systems 
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure concepts, including platform, security, network, and cloud technologies 
  • Concise technical writing ability 

 

Employee Class: 3/4 Time (28 hour)
Work Location: Provo Campus

Approximate Starting Salary: $21.50 - $27.75 hourly, depending on qualifications
