Organizational Unit Overview
Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing at East Carolina University. ITCS, through innovative information technology initiatives and service, provides opportunities for the ECU community to excel in teaching, research, and service using state-of-the-market technology and collaborative environments. ITCS is first and foremost committed to providing excellent information technology support for faculty, staff, and students. ITCS partners with campus departments, other universities, and industry to make strategic investments in information technology infrastructure that will help maintain a competitive advantage in administrative applications, faculty research, and outreach to the state and nation. We will achieve this through increasing the core functions and deploying appropriate technology throughout the university.
The Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) Support and Maintenance team is a major division of ITCS that maintains administrative computer applications for the university. Programming specialists, analysts and technicians support the University ERP System, Ellucian Banner, and various interfacing systems used by administrative offices across the campus such as Finance, Human Resource and Payroll, Student, and University Advancement areas.
Job Duties
  • Maintenance/Problem Resolution – should be able to prioritize problems, determine cause, route problem to responsible area when appropriate, or develop solutions,
  • Systems Analysis – Plan for the computerization of given manual procedures, or to replace an existing computer application with one that provides a more effective/efficient presentation of data.
  • Programming – Use a large variety of programming tools/technologies to write programs in an online/real-time environment, within a sophisticated, integrated network environment.
  • Documentation – Write professional, clear, concise and complete applications and systems documentation for clients, programmers, and production control.
  • Training – Participate in training opportunities by attending classes, by working with team members and by completing self-study type training
  • Testing – Test new applications, or applications that have been modified to make sure that the systems perform as designed.
  • Other duties as assigned – Other programming or data analysis/correction duties as assigned.

The standard work schedule for this position will need to be adjusted to meet the position requirements, which include and are not limited to evening and weekend hours to perform scheduled and unscheduled workload requirements to maintain University operations.
This position may be eligible for Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA) under the ECU FWA Policy.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • Knowledge of the following environments, languages, and tools: Oracle database, Ellucian Banner (table structures and database objects), SQL, PL/SQL, REST API, GIT/GitHub, TOAD for Oracle
  • A technical understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Enterprise-wide (ERP) Administrative systems, and ETL process creation and documentation.
  • Collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather and explain business requirements.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment, while communicating regular status updates to leadership
  • Ability to multi-task and set task priorities
  • Maintain and update documentation as needed.
  • Strong customer-focused support skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to continually learn new technologies
