General Description of the Job Class
The position reports to the DHTS Sr Manager, Application Integration
The Interface Application Analyst Level 1 couples knowledge of business practices/operations with knowledge of information systems to build, test, implement, maintain and support Duke IT HL7 interface applications.  These applications support the mission of Duke Health System by sending data between clinical and business applications using HL7.  

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
•    Leadership for Customers:  Engage our customers to understand the problem or challenge they have.  Then to lead the customer to the best solution.  Leadership is throughout the project from the beginning by helping them understand the importance of their ownership of workflows to guidance in performing complete and thorough testing.   

•    HL7 Analysis:  Meet with our customers to design effective and efficient HL7 interfaces.  Our customers are DHTS Application owners who will include their vendor in conversations where the interfaces are defined.  The output form this process is a set of specifications ranging from high level functionality to detailed field by field mapping with diagrams to support the specifications.  The analysis is performed on new applications being installed requiring interfaces as well as existing interfaces requiring updates.  

•    Bridges Configuration:  Configure Epic Bridges to fulfill the design agreed to by project team.
•    HealthShare Interface Engine Build: Build the interface in our interface engine, HealthShare, to fulfill the design agreed to by project team.

•    Testing:  Construct thorough test plans for all phases of the interface development including functional testing of Bridges, the interface engine and complete end to end validation.  The validation will include appropriate set up of error queues. 

•    On Call:  Participate in 24X7 rotational on-call responsibilities.  Collaborate with team members to assist in resolving issues. 

•    Support a Team First Culture:  Continually review design and testing results with other team members to ensure completeness.  This review is for both changes made by the candidate as well as other team members. 

Required Qualifications at this Level

Experience Required:    •    Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or, four years of IT technical experience, or, a combination of formal IT education and IT technical experience totaling 4 years.
•    2 years Epic Bridges
•    2 years HL7 Interface
