Job Description

IRRADIATION FACILITIES ENGINEER, Nuclear Reactor Laboratory (MIT-NRL), to act as a key member of the irradiation engineering group, with emphasis on the design, construction, and installation of the new irradiation facilities at the NRL.  Will be involved in the design, construction, and installation of new experimental irradiation facilities; contribute to safety reviews and QA documentation; participate in the rotation with other irradiation engineering group members as an on-call experimenter; and work as a qualified radiation worker in NRL laboratories safely handling radioactive material. 

The MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory is a university laboratory that conducts interdisciplinary research in the areas of advanced fuel and materials for nuclear energy systems, nuclear science, nuclear medicine, and radiation science and technology. 


Job Requirements

 REQUIRED:  a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering or another related field, attention to detail, and good written and oral communication skills.  Must be able to work effectively both as a team member and independently; effectively prioritize multiple projects and keep to schedules and deadlines; work with and manage diverse engineering teams; and read, draft, and communicate technical drawings of experimental components.  PREFERRED:  five years of experience at a nuclear reactor facility in an engineering role.  Job #22806
