Position Summary

This is an intermediate level IRB Administrator position. This position is detail oriented and regulatory based. This individual will serve as a contact point for the research community for questions or concerns with human subject research. The responsibilities are similar to those of an IRB Administrator I. Specifically, the IRB Administrator II will write review letters, attend IRB meetings, take an active role in the review of proposed research, serve as a voting member (or alternate member) of one or more of the IRBs, and will perform expedited reviews. Compared with an Administrator I, the IRB Administrator II will be expected to act more independently, write more detailed and complicated letters without direct supervision, take a more active role in IRB meetings, and perform more complicated expedited reviews. This individual will have a more detailed and nuanced understanding of Federal regulations and guidances relevant to the HRPP, and be able to convey these concepts to stakeholders more effectively.
In addition, the IRB Administrator II may assume responsibilities for special projects (for example, RSS system or RA database maintenance) and/or types of research activities (such as Central IRB [CIRB] or Single IRB [SIRB} administration; or compliance or auditing), or provide administrative support for ancillary committees under the Office of Regulatory Affairs (such as the Institutional Biosafety Committee [IBC] and the Scientific Review Oversight Committee [SROC]).
