Position Summary
The Intramural Sports Coordinator (Graduate Assistant) is responsible for planning, implementing, facilitating and evaluating a comprehensive Intramural Sports program. This position reports to the Director of Sports and Wellness.
This is a student position open to current graduate UIW students.
Essential Functions
Essential functions include:
-Recruits, schedules, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff members on policies and procedures;
-Assists with budget management, which will include purchases of equipment and supplies to facilitate programs;
-Assists the Director of Sports and Wellness with marketing and outreach efforts;
-Coordinates and adheres to departmental risk management efforts for all programs and facilities in areas of responsibility;
-Assists organizational leadership in purchasing and tracking inventory of university property;
-Serves on departmental, university, and/or national committees;
-Understands and represents the mission and vision of UIW and UIW Sports and Wellness;
- May be required to be lead official, tournament director and court supervisor during games and tournaments;
-Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office products;
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
-Ability to work during normal business work hours;
-Working knowledge of tournament and league brackets as well as working knowledge of a diversity of sports;
-Ability to prepare financial reports, statistical reports, inventory control, budget management, and student development for the Club Sports program;
-Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and promote intramural sports activities and programs;
-Ability to supervise and direct the work of others;
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
-Excellent organizational and time-management skills;
-Excellent marketing skills;
-Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA
Required Education
Current UIW graduate student
Required Work Experience
One (1) year experience in a recreation/club sports program, sports management, or game operations atmosphere
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred certification or previous experience in sports officiating
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
CPR and First Aid Certification (if expired, must be completed within 3 months of start date)
Work Hours
  • 15 hours per week required;
  • Events and games/tournaments are on nights and weekends;
  • Must be available on weekends and evenings and be on call as required.
Physical Demands
This position requires manual labor with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
