Internship Placement Manager

General Summary: 

The Internship Placement Manager is a full-time position within the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). The manager will primarily provide support for identifying internship opportunities and placements for students majoring in Sport Leadership and Administration, with additional field placement support for undergraduate students in CEHD including assisting with managing student and organizational internship records, teaching and course planning for field placement/internship courses, and relationship building with internal and external sport organizations. The manager will also assist with recruitment, admissions, field placement, and accreditation. The manager will teach up to two to three field placement/internship courses per year, providing supervision to undergraduate students in the Sport Leadership and Administration program.

Examples of Duties: 

  • Work with the program director of the Sport Leadership and Administration program, and all program faculty, to facilitate and coordinate deep partnerships with organizations in the sport industry;
  • Support coordination with the Sport Leadership and Administration Advisory Board
  • Manage a sport organization and internship placement database;
  • Assist students with locating and securing internship positions;
  • Correspond with the Office of Career Services and Internships and Sport Leadership and Administration Advisory Board to identify professional development opportunities for students;
  • Track each student’s internship hours and placement sites;
  • Manage evaluation tools for students’ internship experiences, including mid-term and final field supervisor evaluations and student intern evaluations;
  • Meet and correspond with students prior to, during, and after their internship placements to provide support for their success and growth in their internships;
  • Develop and update communication tools for students and field supervisors;
  • Coordinate with the Manager of Field Placements to ensure consistency of efforts across all field placements within CEHD;
  • Attend relevant meetings;
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree required.  Knowledge of the sport leadership and administration is preferred. A Master’s degree in a sport related area and/or professional work experience in the sport industry is preferred.
