Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of the Career Development Center and lead by the Assistant Director of Employer Engagement, the incumbent builds partnerships between the university and external communities (business, the public sector and not-for-profit entities) emphasizing aggressive development and marketing to expand internship and opportunities for students.  Provides advising and coaching to students and alumni in all aspects of career exploration, decision-making and job search.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout the University, alumni, other constituents and the public. Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve institutional goals. High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information. Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines. Demonstrated work experience in relationship building among various constituent groups; proven ability to develop and leverage relationships toward achievement of concrete goals. Demonstrated experience identifying, analyzing, and creating marketing and promotional activities and campaigns. Ability to work as lead person in developing and implementing marketing strategies involving collaborative arrangements with professional colleagues. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, work independently and collaboratively, and to foster teamwork and resourcefulness. Excellent written communication skills includes editing and proofreading to produce quality marketing materials. Strong writing skills with the ability to compose creative and concise communications, which are both informative and accurate. Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to be persuasive. Strong critical thinking skills: must be able to analyze a problem or opportunity and identify appropriate strategies. Familiarity with suite of Microsoft tools including Power Point, Excel and Word; demonstrated experience using survey analysis tools and related databases, including Access.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."


Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required.  Preferred disciplines include: Business/Human Resources, Student Development/Higher Education, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. Two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.

Compensation

The salary range for this classification is $4,304 to $6,120 per month.

Time Base

Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
