The International Student & Scholar Advisor is responsible for immigration and cultural adjustment advising, SEVIS compliance and implementation of Glavin Office and International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) programming.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the F Program and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the J Program; advise international students, alumni, scholars, and dependent family members on the visa process, F/J visa regulations, educational concerns, and cultural adjustment. 
  • Sign immigration forms and processes student requests (initial immigration documentation, travel, work permission, program extension, practical training, etc.); assist with SEVIS compliance through the upkeep of ISSM and Babson’s campus data systems; and monitor changes in student and dependent records.
  • Coordinate and execute ISSS programming and assist with Glavin Office special programs as needed (i.e., orientation, Global Scholars, Glavin Global Fellows, International Education Week, Graduate International Dinner).
  • Represent Glavin Office/ISSS on campus committees or task forces and at college functions as appropriate.
  • Under the guidance of the Director, assist with team tasks, including ISSS email account management and email communication; regularly reviewing and updating of ISSS content online; developing  orientation content; assisting with SEVIS and ISSM testing for new versions when  applicable; and identifying and implementing solutions to improve office business processes.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum 2-4 years in higher education with international student/scholar services or related experience.

Must be U.S. Citizen or Lawful U.S. Permanent Resident to meet federal regulatory requirements for professional practice as a Designated School Official (DSO) or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).

Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural and international community

Must have strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Google Suite.

Knowledge of F/J immigration regulations and experience with SEVIS and SEVIS

batch processing software such as ISSM

Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate in a cross-cultural environment.

Demonstrated excellence in attention to detail; ability to adhere to instructions and written guidelines to ensure accuracy and consistency in following office protocols.

Must have strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to appropriately prioritize tasks and adjust to changing priorities.

Must be a team player with ability to take initiative and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.

Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

All Babson College faculty and staff authorized to work on campus must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any appropriate boosters . Must be able to occasionally attend meetings and events during evenings and/or weekends.
