Summary

Under the supervision of the International Education Program Specialist and the Administrative Assistant Senior, support student engagement initiatives within the Center for Global Engagement including but not limited to outreach and marketing materials for programming, such as orientations, workshops, and cultural events; assistance with the development and execution of new and existing programs; act as a point person/liaison between international students and staff. Hours will range from 10-20 a week and may require working some evenings and weekends. This position will require traveling with students.

Responsibilities*

Website Support

  • Conduct desk research and compile materials for CGE international student page such as orientation information, events and activities, student testimonials, ways for international students to get involved with CGE, etc. 
  • Assist with updating information and dates as needed/as instructed.
  • Assist with site management including posting events, student testimonials for websites, posting event photographs, etc. 
  • Assist in the design and deployment of analytics surveys as needed to assess international student experience and event success.

International Education Programs - Marketing and Outreach Support 

  • Create and update original flyers, digital graphics, and social media content for CGE programming, following department content guidelines, strategy, templates, and branding. 
  • Create Google Form RSVPs for events.
  • Create event postings on Campus Connections.
  • Collect interviews, blog posts, or testimonials from UM-Flint International Students. 
  • Support, attend annual events such as M-Gagement, International Education Week, and International Student Orientation. 
  • Host regular tabling in UCEN to provide upcoming event info, promote new CGE initiatives, and occasionally table for Education Abroad events.

International Student Programming and Peer Support

  • Create and assist in the development and execution of CGE programming, i.e. International Student Orientations, Diwali, excursions to places of interest, workshops, etc. 
  • Host/co-host various events and tabling, i.e. M-Gagement, Intercultural Fair, Open House,  tabling for event promotion, etc. 
  • Hold walk-in peer advising hours at the Center for Global Engagement weekly (1-3 hours per week). 
  • Reply to student inquiries via email or in-person walk-ins professionally and promptly.


Miscellaneous

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*
  • Active UM-Flint student (undergraduate or graduate). 
  • Available at least 10-15 hours per week during the Fall and Winter semesters.
  • Strong English writing skills and strong communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated interest in international education, international student life, sense of belonging, cross-cultural engagement, integration, and advocacy. 
  • Available to attend events off campus, nights and weekends mostly.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Available for 20 hours per week hours per week during the Fall, Winter, and Summer semesters.  
  • International education experience (i.e. studying abroad/away, exchange/seeking a degree in another country, etc). 
  • Strong Google Suite skills including Sheets, Docs, Calendar, etc.
  • Strong customer service skills. 
  • Demonstrated experience with public speaking or peer engagement. 
  • Skilled in content creation, basic videography/photography, graphic design, or willingness to learn. 
  • Holds a valid U.S. driver's license.
