Departmental Objective
As the central clearinghouse of news and information, the Office of Communications and Public Relations works closely with faculty, staff, alumni, and students to share “the CNU story” with local, regional, and national audiences. Through strategic integrated marketing, OCPR creates a unified image for the University and provides information through the media, the web, and print materials to a variety of constituencies in a timely and effective manner. Creative services include marketing, public relations, media relations, electronic media, and graphic design.
Purpose of the Position
This position will support the graphic needs of the Office of Communications and Public Relations. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Graphic Design, the Manager of Creative Services will design and execute concepts in support of the university’s brand, and apply these strategies through all university marketing and communications initiatives. In addition, the Manager of Creative Services will create/design most Admission Freshman, Graduate, International, Transfer, Orientation print materials and promotional advertising. Responsibilities also include all materials related to Admission events, including Open House, Signature Programs Day, Admitted Freshman Day, and various off-campus initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of contemporary design and its role in the development of organizational communications
  • Knowledge of graphic art concepts and techniques
  • Knowledge of print production processes (i.e., paper stock, ink, binding, specialty print methods and unique ink applications, etc.)
  • Knowledge of public relations and marketing principles and practices

Skills:
  • Proficiency in design software including Adobe Creative Cloud and specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator as demonstrated through a portfolio of work
  • Skilled in project development processes, from evaluating project needs to managing project timelines to final production and asset delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills

Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to independently and collaboratively create and develop design concepts for publications and marketing objectives
  • Ability to evaluate production the feasibility of designs, and to prepare print specification for cost estimates
  • Ability to ensure that all visual assets adhere to CNU’s brand standards and guidelines
  • Ability to communicate with vendors
  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload to meet established deadlines
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma

Experience:
  • Significant professional experience in graphic design
Additional Consideration(s)
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

Experience:
  • Professional design experience in a university setting
  • Experience designing print materials
  • Experience with offset and digital printing and processes
  • Experience with project development from inception to completion
Salary Information Salary starting at $56,746 to $70,932, Commensurate with Education and Experience
