The Office of the Provost has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Senior HR Coordinator position.

Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.  Work is performed fully independently. 

Position Emphasis:
The Senior HR Coordinator will provide management, leadership and expertise in the areas of human resources and some finance functions as it related to human resources. This position directly administers human resource processes for departments under the Provost Office. This position will be responsible for personnel matters related to performance improvement, family medical leave, and parental leave and performance evaluations. Work collaboratively with HR, Employee Services, Vice Chancellor, Assistant Vice Chancellor’s and Director’s, to process all corrective action, letter of expectation, letter of instruction and disciplinary actions.

The Senior Coordinator will review job descriptions providing feedback to AVC’s and Directors. Perform recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding of professional staff. Maintain knowledge of the budget, work collaboratively with the Associate Director to track budgets for the positions being hired or changed and is the liaison with central HR. Responsible for the creation and processing of new positions and requisitions in HCM and the management of job postings in CU Careers. This position will report to the Associate Director of Finance and Administration. 

Examples of Work:

  • Process and approve monthly time collection as needed, process separation pay, leave reconciliation and ensure payroll for all employee types. 
  • Perform ongoing leave audits. 
  • Develop and maintain internal HR processes and procedures. 
  • Maintain knowledge of and manage position budgets.
  • Act as a liaison with central HR. 
  • Maintain knowledge of equity/compression issues for departments under the Provost Office. 
  • Perform annual leave audits for university staff, classified staff and faculty to ensure the universities is booking toe correct liability for the estimated value of the leave balances.
  • Ensure monthly and bi-weekly payroll is accurate utilizing the reported time summary.
  • Verify and track student hourly budgets for departments that do not have administrative support. 
  • Process Payroll Expense Transfers. 
  • Maintain a working knowledge at all times of all current University policies that are relevant to the position. 
  • Effectively handles sensitive and confidential issues with timeliness, discretion and professionalism. 
  • Ensure all human resource functions area handled according to Department, Campus, Regent, State and Federal processes, policies and regulations.
  • Maintain open communication with Appointing Authorities and payroll liaison/business partners regarding changes, updates, issues and information pertinent to perform their job. 
  • Make daily decisions and resolved problems based on university knowledge of policies and procedures. 
  • Perform special projects as assigned.

Salary and Benefits:
The hiring range for this position has been established at $53,709 to $60,000.   

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, public administration, communications, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience with human resources or finance operations functions.

Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a diverse population of students in a non-profit or educational setting in a professional position
  • Experience in HR operations, processing or supporting payroll or hiring processes
  • Experience using web-based information systems
