Job Summary/Basic Function:
Brazosport College, a two-time Top 10 finalist for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and Achieving the Dream Leader College, seeks a dynamic and innovative Internal Auditor. Position reports to the college President.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Acts as liaison with external auditor and assists with annual financial audit.
  • plans and conducts audits of financial and operational processes and prepares reports of audit findings.
  • reviews financial accounts and performs analyses as needed.
  • reviews federal and state grant compliance.
  • prepares annual financial reports to external entities as required.
  • performs contract compliance audits on auxiliary services.
  • performs special projects and other duties as assigned by the President.
Physical Demands:
Walking, standing, sitting, lifting, handling, fine dexterity, vision, hearing, talking, ability to drive to off campus locations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • CIA, CMA, CPA, or MBA desirable.
  • two years’ accounting and financial statement preparation experience.
  • excellent computer skills – especially in database, data analytics, and spreadsheets.
  • demonstrated evidence of the ability to plan, conduct, and report internal audits.
  • excellent analytical skills; excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • ability to work in a team environment, work under stress, and follow directions.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • CIA, CMA, CPA, or MBA
