Job Summary
Auburn University is excited to begin the search for an Student Intern to join the GEAR UP Achieve interdisciplinary team. Funded by an historic grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education, GEAR UP Achieve will provide academic and postsecondary education support for a cohort of thousands of seventh-grade students across seven regions of the state beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

The successful candidate will assist and work at the direction of the Project Director to promote academic support and early college/career activities, programs, events to GEAR UP ACHIEVE students, families, schools, and media outlets. The aim of this position is to support the efforts of GEAR UP ACHIEVE by communicating to stakeholders about grant requirements, events, programs, and student success stories on a variety of media outlets including social media, emails, website, newsletters, and reports.
Essential Functions
  • Develop marketing and communications plans to promote the vision, mission, goals, and achievements of GEAR UP ACHIEVE.
  • Communicates with GEAR UP ACHIEVE staff to promote a unified program to students and schools across the state.
  • Coordinates a diverse range of communications services, strategies, events, and projects targeting students, teachers, and parents.
  • Creates content for web-based media, maintaining a comprehensives events calendar, preparing press releases, and planning and organizing special events and meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • Enrolled as an Auburn University undergraduate student.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs without assistance, lift/move with assistance up to 50 lbs.
  • Bend, Stand, Stack, Pack, Push, and Sit for possible lengthy times.
Preferred Qualifications
Pay Rate $15.00/hour
Work Hours 10-20 hrs per week
