Description 
The Paul Meek Library at the University of Tennessee at Martin is accepting applications for an Interlibrary Loan Associate. Primary duties for this staff position will require fulfilling requests for both borrowing and lending for library users as well as partner libraries from local, regional, national, and international institutions. Interlibrary Load (ILL) processes numerous unique requests requiring staff to have a general knowledge of borrowing and lending using specialized service management systems. This position reports directly to the Head of Circulation. 

Essential Job Functions
• Supervise all aspects of lending and borrowing.
• Hire, train, direct, and coordinate workflow of student assistant.
• Process incoming requests for lending and borrowing with matches for PML holdings (library collections, call numbers, availability)
• Gather statistics for monthly and annual reports.
• Ensure proper use of digital delivery systems and campus outbound mail.
• Report departmental charges of ILL requests to administrative office for billing.
• Update requests shipped to borrowing libraries.
• Receive and discharge ILL materials that are returned.
• Evaluate materials before and after return for damage or preservation needs.
• Analyze problem requests and seek solutions through bibliographic verification, library collection use policy implications, and billing/shipping options.
• Communicate with users about any copyright issues and scanning documents sent to other libraries.
• Update the library’s ILS system when books are shipped to other libraries.
• Use advanced reference and bibliographic skills and a variety of print and electronic resources for requests.
• Knowledge of how to search in any of the libraries’ online databases, indexes, and web catalogs.
• Receive and respond to time sensitive emails and telephone calls from libraries and patrons.
• Assist users with setting up an ILL account to request loans.
• Provide backup support for covering the circulation desk.
• Monitor overdue materials and items not returned and report to the circulation department for billing charges.
• Monitor Copyright Clearing Center (CCC) charges to verify payments.
• Routinely run reports in ILL to resolve any discrepancies in outstanding accounts and follow up.
• Make changes in rules, settings, formatting fields, and configuration issues with the online ILL system.
• Monitor budget for students requesting ILL materials.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of interlibrary loan system and library cataloging systems.
• Good customer service.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of library experience.
• Cataloging experience.
• Familiarity with interlibrary loan systems, preferably TIPASA.
