The department of Space Planning has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Interiors Standards Manager to work at UHealth. The Interiors Standards Manager (H) will ensure consistency, quality, and compliance in design processes, materials, and finishes. The incumbent will play a fundamental role in streamlining design operations and enhancing the built environment for patients, staff, and the communities the UM facilities serve. 

  • Develops and implements standardization strategies for design processes, materials, and finishes.

  • Ensures compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations on all design projects, making necessary adjustments as required.

  • Leads design and quality review to ensure that all design elements meet established standards and guidelines, including conducting quality control checks throughout the design process and providing feedback and guidance to the integrated project delivery team.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including end users, architects, engineers, project managers, and vendors to ensure alignment and consistency in design standards.

  • Manages documentation related to design standards, including maintaining design libraries, material samples, and specifications with the goal of organizing and updating design resources for easy access by the design team.

  • Trains and mentors the design team to ensure adherence to standardized processes.

  • Identifies and evaluates opportunities for process improvement and researches new materials, technologies, and design trends to enhance efficiency and quality.

  • Monitors and reports on the implementation of standardized processes and tracks key performance indicators related to design quality and efficiency to assess the effectiveness of standardization strategies and makes necessary adjustments.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Minimum Qualifications                                                                                                     

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

  • Professional Interior Design License

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

  • Strong project management and analysis skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience with different project methodologies.

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Superior team building skills and ability to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Ability to establish and manage project timelines and budgets.

  • Ability to establish team goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
