Job Summary

The Interim Director of Global and Graduate  Enrollment will perform administrative responsibilities by providing leadership for all aspects of Graduate and International Admission, within the Division of Enrollment Management. The Graduate and International Admission team processes applications for all graduate students (online, on-campus, domestic, international), and recruits and processes all international students (first-year, transfer, and graduate).

Using the RIT strategic plan as a compass, the director will partner with colleagues across the enrollment division, the Associate Provost for International Education and Global Programs, the English Language Center, Deans, Program Directors, as well as other university stakeholders.  

The position requires an entrepreneurial mindset; the ability to identify opportunities based on internal strengths and external needs; an energy and excitement that leads by example; and an ability to anticipate and leverage new opportunities.


Job Responsibilities

  • Establish graduate and international enrollment plans that are easily understood and executable to meet enrollment goals.
  • Establish enrollment partnerships and implement programs that align RIT programs with appropriate domestic and international channels and markets.
  • Collaborate with the Enrollment Management Leadership Team on initiatives including communications, strategy, recruitment, events, staff training and development.  
  • Hire, train, and provide leadership and professional development for the Graduate and International Admission staff.  
  • Provide training and materials to faculty and staff who work with the admission process.   
  • Lead department operations team and partner with divisions systems team on SLATE CRM.
  • Admit and award scholarships to applicants in accordance with federal, state, and institution policies and procedures. 
  • Partner with program coordinators, chairs, deans, administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely exchange of information.
  • Manage the review process for graduate and international applications for admission. 
  • Develop and implement policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and university policies.  
  • Coordinate with the enrollment marketing team to establish communication programs and marketing flows for graduate and international student enrollments.  
  • Serve in a leadership capacity on projects and initiatives across the division and university.  
  • In collaboration with student affairs, serve as DSO in SEVIS and maintain knowledge and training of applicable immigration regulations. 
  • Serve on university committees, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Support of mission, vision, and values.
  • Required: a bachelor’s degree or the international equivalent.
  • Experience in graduate admission, international admission, and/or graduate or international student services at a four-year college or university.
  • Strong analytical skills, as demonstrated by the development of successful strategies to recruit and enroll students.
  • Exceptional cross-cultural communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience directly managing the work of full-time employees and leading a team to accomplish challenging objectives.
  • Experience managing and creating policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge of best practices and latest trends in the profession, including active participation in national, regional, and/or state organizations pertaining to graduate and/or international enrollment management.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s degree or the international equivalent.
  • Experience in and proficiency with Slate.
  • Experience studying and/or working abroad.
  • Experience with or knowledge of nontraditional student populations.
  • Familiarity with immigration regulations affecting international students and experience as a (P)DSO in SEVIS.
  • Knowledge of financial assistance options for students

Due to the nature of this position, some evening and weekend work can be expected throughout the year, especially when traveling for RIT. Candidates should be prepared to travel overnight and internationally and must possess a valid US driver’s license and US Passport. While the majority of the work is done sitting or standing, the ability to lift boxes weighing up to 40 pounds is also necessary. Candidates may need to access Non-ADA compliant buildings. Due to government restrictions with SEVIS, the final candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy . (see Page 4)

Department/College Description

RIT’s Division of Enrollment Management is a dynamic and comprehensive team striving to provide superior service to internal and external constituents to maximize RIT’s potential for attracting new student populations and serving current student communities. The Division implements its objectives in direct support of RIT’s institutional mission and encompasses the following departments:

• Enrollment Marketing collaborates with RIT’s central Division of Marketing and Communications to cultivate RIT’s brand identity and manage marketing communications to prospective students. This department develops and oversees electronic and print campaigns, partners with vendors to share RIT’s opportunities with prospective students and families.
• Enrollment Systems and Analytics oversees all enrollment systems management and procedures. While managing enrollment reporting, survey completion, and database functioning for the division, this department also assesses current processes and policies to improve recruitment outcomes and create efficiencies.
• Financial Aid and Scholarships is made up of 30 directors, advisors, and specialists, who assist students and their families in identifying sources of financial aid to meet the cost of a quality education. For academic year 2022-2023, more than 94% of full-time undergraduate and graduate students at RIT received more than $500 million in financial aid, including over $300 million in RIT grants and scholarships. One hundred percent of first-year and transfer students receive aid.
• Graduate Enrollment Services oversees the enrollment of 2,904 graduate students in over 100 future-focused graduate programs, including master’s degrees, doctoral degrees, advanced certificates, and online degrees. For the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 application cycle, RIT received nearly 7,000 graduate applications and enrolled 1,178 new graduate students.
• International Enrollment is a team that manages recruitment and selection for the international student population within RIT’s main campus. RIT’s international student population of 1,907 students hail from more than 100 different countries. All international students are considered for merit-based scholarships.
• Project Lead the Way offers high school students a pathway to earn college credit from RIT, which can be used within the institution or transferred to other universities. This allows students to finish college sooner while saving on tuition, qualify for scholarships, and receive college credit at a fraction of the cost. This 3-person team oversees relationships with secondary schools and the implementation of the program.
• Undergraduate Admissions is a 35-person team made up of assistant and associate directors, staff assistants, coordinators, and application reviewers that manage the recruitment, assessment, and yield initiatives for undergraduate first-year and transfer applications.
