Position Summary
Responsible for follow-up insurance billing and credit balance activities, verifying the accuracy and completeness of refunds. Contacting insurance companies, and other related duties to expedite and resolve outstanding credits from all payers and patients.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews and resolves correspondence and remittances to verify the validity of refunds.
  • Responds to questions and refund requests received from insurance companies and patients in a timely manner.
  • Researches undistributed and over-posted payments to resolve credits.
  • Review insurance coverage for accuracy of payments received.
  • Assists with special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Working Conditions
 

The position works primarily remotely. It is a requirement to work in the office one day per month.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of computers, general office equipment, telephone console, medical terminology, collection techniques and communication skills that involve dealing with confidential information.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • Two to three years of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting.

Salary Range
$17.00 - $24.66 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
