Definition of Class

This position installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs various digital and pneumatic building control systems, develops computer programs for mechanical control, assists in training employees on various electronic systems, and serves as the lead Instrumentation and Controls Technician.


Examples of Work Performed
  • Operates and maintains building automated control systems.
  • Installs wiring associated with building controls.
  • Reads and interprets electrical schematics, blueprints, line drawings associated with digital control systems, line and low voltage wiring systems.
  • Installs, calibrates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs various digital and pneumatic control systems.
  • Maintains mechanical HVAC equipment.
  • Develops computer programs for mechanical control.
  • Maintains work assignments and reviews completed work of subordinate staff.
  • Assists in training staff on various electronic control systems and fire alarm systems across campus.
  • Serves as the lead Instrumentation and Controls Technician.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs various digital and pneumatic building control systems.
  • Assists in training staff on electronic control systems.
  • Serves as the lead Instrumentation and Controls Technician.

  • Minimum Education/Experience

    Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

    AND

    Experience:

    Five (5) years of experience related to the above described duties.

    AND

    Licensure:

    Must possess a valid driver’s license.
