General Description / Primary Purpose
The Department of History at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville seeks to hire a full-time instructor in U.S. History from 1877 to the present. The successful candidate will teach AMH2020: US History Since 1877, which fulfills the state of Florida’s Civic Literacy requirement, and upper-level lecture courses and seminars in their areas of specialty. Subject to appointment as graduate faculty, they may also have the opportunity to teach graduate courses. Preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to digital humanities, the department’s new Public History Program, and student success initiatives for history majors and first year students. A Ph.D. is required by August 2024. The teaching load is a 4-4 and the salary is $50,000 with the opportunity for promotion through UNF’s promotional track for instructors. Position duties require a regular physical presence on the UNF campus.
