Position Responsibilities


Position Summary
The Department of Physics at the University of Idaho is seeking to appoint a full-time instructor in physics for the delivery of large-lecture lower-division courses and management of associated recitations taught by teaching assistants. The instructor will also collaborate with the Director of Physics Lab Education, in the training of TAs and the development of discovery-based laboratory experiments, and be the liaison for dual-credit courses. They will also be expected to participate in department meetings, serve on department, college, and/or university committees; and contribute to recruitment and retention efforts, including outreach to the community.

Qualifications


Minimum Education/Degree Required Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications
  • PhD in physics or related field. ABD will be considered.
  • Teaching experience in physics beyond conventional TA duties.
  • Training or experience in active-learning methods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching large-lecture physics courses at the college level.
  • Research experience in Physics Education.
