Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Serving as support staff to the training teams, provides technical and administrative support to the Assistant Director, Training Specialists, and Training Technician in the organization, preparation, management, and control of seminars and courses sponsored by the Office of Legal Education. Assists in the design and revision of course materials based on student feedback, practical experience, course goals and objectives, and views of Assistant Director. Position will require making recommendations regarding course materials, exercises, and structure.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree and 2 years relevant program experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and tact and skill in persuading faculty and experts to comply with procedural requirements. Well-rounded knowledge of information technology applications to carry out assignments, generate reports, training materials for classroom learning and distance learning, and to troubleshoot common IT applications; Applications and systems include, for example, learn DOJ, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SNAP, SharePoint and Turning Point. Skill in developing contacts to support the agency’s legal education activities and effectively and diplomatically deal with a broad range of persons including federal judges, senior department officials, United States Attorneys and others. General knowledge of protocol in dealing with senior staff and preparing for course presentations by senior staff. Knowledge of the procedures for safeguarding national security information.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of legal and related reference sources in agency manuals, reference systems, directives, issuances, precedent decisions, court decisions, and commercial legal publications to ensure highest level of support.

Based on knowledge of OLE policies and procedures and views of the Assistant Director, the incumbent prepares draft agendas and a variety of working documents to assist in program planning and development. Functions will include assisting the training teams in preparing, formatting and proofreading course materials. As well as, recruiting facilitators for training and assisting students with pre-course work.

Will be assisting in research and preparing information used in courses, e.g. data, references, videos, etc. This may include assistance in research of legal references and sources to ensure accuracy and incorporation of latest legal trends. Prepares a variety of memoranda, statistical reports and summaries and other course-related documents and data using automated word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
