POSITION: The Department of Social Sciences seeks a full-time Instructor of Political Science to begin work in August 2022. Teaching areas will include American Federal Government and broadly encompass American Institutions and Political Behavior at the upper division level. The current rotation includes The Media in American Politics, The Legislative Process, Political Parties and Interest Groups, Public Opinion, Public Administration and Policy, and State and Local Government. Other courses may be offered and/or developed based on faculty training and program needs. An ability to teach research methods, Constitutional Law, or Judicial Process would be a plus. Faculty are expected to develop and teach courses in multiple formats, including distance learning, online, and face to face.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Faculty holding this position will normally teach 12 hours each fall and spring semester. Summer teaching assignments may be requested but are not required. Course assignments will typically involve multiple sections of American Federal Government and select upper division classes as needed and appropriate based on faculty qualifications. Selected Topics and Independent Study classes may also be offered at the discretion of the faculty member with department permission. Cameron University instructors are required to advise students, serve on departmental and university committees, perform public and professional service, assist with program and department assessment, and supporting student organizations and events. Other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Political Science or related field with evidence of significant teaching promise and demonstrated excellence interacting with students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three years teaching experience in higher education, a proven record of excellence in classroom and online instruction, and demonstrated achievement in curricular and course design and student advisement. Sufficient expertise to teach upper division courses in Political Science would be considered advantageous.
