The Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology (MIP) Department is comprised of over 400 individuals who share a common passion for solving some of the most important human and animal health problems today. Research programs include those related to clinical hematopathology and hematologic neoplasms, mycobacteria, retroviruses, prions, zoonotic and arthropod-borne infectious diseases, as well as the diagnostic investigation of naturally-occurring animal diseases. A leader in education, MIP provides the only microbiology undergraduate degree program in Colorado, a graduate program that provides training in a number of cutting-edge disciplines, and several specialized veterinary residency training programs.

Position Summary
We are pleased to announce a Clinical Pathology Contract, Continuing, Adjunct (CCA) faculty position at Colorado State University with potential to hire in at the rank of instructor, or assistant professor commensurate with experience. This non-tenure-track faculty position is intended for boarded clinical pathologists and those recently finishing a clinical pathology residency who are interested in refining their diagnostic, laboratory management, and clinical research skills, and to support the clinical pathology service and teaching mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. CSU offers a large, varied caseload, on-site access to advanced evaluation techniques including immunocytochemical staining, cytochemical staining, flow cytometry, PARR, and advanced protein evaluation, among others. The position includes interaction with 7 board-certified clinical pathologists, 5 clinical pathology/graduate degree trainees, collaboration with an active Clinical Hematopathology service and opportunities to help expand/develop coagulation testing and immunocytochemistry services. Qualified candidates will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) and have completed an ACVP or ECVCP certified clinical pathology residency training program. Candidates must be eligible for a Colorado academic veterinary license. Both ACVP/ECVCP board eligible and ACVP/ECVCP Diplomates are encouraged to apply. Board eligible candidates must have completed the Phase I examination.

This position will provide instruction to residents and veterinary students during the course of service activities. Participation in Microscopy Seminar that is combined with anatomic and comparative medicine residents and faculty, and weekly clinical pathology rounds is expected.

The position will be focused on cytopathology diagnostic service including interpretation of fine needle aspiration cytology, fluid analysis, hematology and biochemical panel review.  This translates to 32-36 weeks of service per year on site.  Service is shared with other pathologists in a collaborative environment.
