This position is responsible for the instruction of course specific material within the School of Health Sciences. Job schedule may be negotiated. Job schedule may fall on either evening and weekends, or Monday through Friday, during typical business hours.
Essential Responsibilities

  • The position reports directly to the Director of Nursing within the School of Health Sciences.
  • The individual is responsible for scheduling of students for clinical experience, teaching classes and clinical; supervising students in laboratory and skills testing; conducting pre and post-clinical conferences and evaluating student progress, supervising adjunct faculty; preparing written evaluations and meeting with students.
  • Other duties will include participating in curriculum planning and revision; other teaching assignments as needed in the nursing program and attending nursing faculty and School meetings and other college committees as appropriate.
  • Position will maintain posted office hours, substitute when needed and perform other tasks as assigned by the Director.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required. An Associate’s Degree in Nursing may be considered with a commitment to complete a bachelor’s degree in nursing within 5 years from the date of hire.
  • Must value diversity and have a multi-cultural perspective with high school and minority students and be highly motivated with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy.
  • Individual must possess strong communication/clinical skills, be familiar with computerized activities/testing and be licensed as an RN by the NM Board of Nursing or be eligible for licensure.
  • Physical Requirements: Varied sitting, standing, bending, walking. Ability to lift up to 25lbs related equipment/office supplies.
  • Clinical Requirements: Must provide documentation of compliance with immunization requirements for each clinical agency.
  • All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.
  • Must have at least two years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of Long-term care experience.
  • Must have experience supervising CNA’s and/or experience in teaching adults.
