Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The University of South Carolina Sumter invites applications for the position of Instructor in Nursing. This position is for a faculty member to teach primarily pre-nursing classes at USC Sumter, as well as upper division courses in the USC Aiken BSN program on the USC Sumter campus. This full-time (non-tenure track) position is a nine-month appointment beginning August 16, 2024. Teaching requirements include face-to-face, distance education, and possible evening and/or weekend classes, and will normally require the teaching of up to twelve credit hours per semester or its equivalent, and a commitment to university/community service. The successful candidate will also assist with teaching labs, simulations, and clinical groups for upper division courses, as well as assist with academic advising as needed. Starting salary at least $62,000 per academic year depending on qualifications.
Required Education and Experience
Masters or higher degree in Nursing; possession of/eligible for unencumbered South Carolina nursing license. License must be obtained by August 16, 2024. Individuals with medical-surgical nursing experience are encouraged to apply. Recent teaching, clinical instruction experience desirable. Applicants must be able to perform all duties of a clinical instructor in various settings including, but not limited to, physical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with medical-surgical experience, recent teaching, clinical instruction experience, as well as those would be approved to teach UNIV 101: The Student in the University, PCAM 101: Nursing Concepts, Communication and Calculations.
