Position Title Instructor of Geography
Department WSCC-Division of Behav & Soc Sci
Position Summary

Develop and teach geography courses and additional behavioral and social science courses.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

A. Develop and teach geography courses which include, but are not limited to, Cultural and World Regional.
B. Incorporate technology into the geography curriculum to include web based and video streaming course delivery as well as support.
C. Develop and teach a second behavioral or social science discipline course or courses which includes, but is not limited to sociology, social work, psychology, history, and political science.
D. Prepare course syllabi, course materials, evaluate student learning and maintain class records.
E. Participate in curriculum development, student recruiting, advising, placement, division/departmental meetings, college boards and committees.
F. Complete goals and objectives for the individual and the department.
G. Complete educational outcome measures and academic reporting as required.
H. Comply with all requirements in WSCC Policy 06:01:01.
I. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

A. At least a Master’s degree in geography or related field from a regionally accredited institution with 18 or more graduate hours in geography. Dual teaching credentials in an additional social science area, such as sociology, social work, psychology, history, or political science are required.
B. Teaching experience in geography.
C. Understanding and acceptance of the comprehensive community college philosophy.

Preferred Qualifications

A. Earned doctorate in geography from a regionally accredited institution with background in using information technology techniques for undergraduate geography students is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics

Use of telephone, computer equipment, instructional technology equipment and other standard office equipment is required.
