Position Responsibilities


Position Summary
The Department of English at the University of Idaho seeks to hire an instructor responsible for teaching classes in first-year writing, creative writing, literature, and/or professional writing, with a particular emphasis on first-year writing. This is a permanent, non-tenure-track, 9-month position with a 4/4 teaching load. The University of Idaho English department offers an undergraduate degree with concentrations in creative writing, linguistics, literature, and professional writing, as well as MA and MFA degrees. All faculty are expected to serve on at least one committee at the department, college, or university level.

Qualifications


Minimum Education/Degree Required Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications
  • M.A. or M.F.A in English or related field;
  • 2 years of experience in teaching first-year writing, creative writing, literature, and/or professional writing at a university or college.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in English or related field;
  • 5 years of experience in teaching first-year writing, creative writing, literature, and/or professional writing;
  • Experience teaching both in-person and online;
  • A record of exemplary teaching, as evidenced by teaching evaluations, syllabi, and other course materials.
