Position Summary
The Department of Criminal Justice invites full-time faculty candidates for Instructor of Criminal Justice within the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. This non-tenure-track faculty position will teach undergraduate courses in criminal justice. Full-time instructors at UIW are expected to teach five courses in the fall semester and five courses in the spring semester. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, with service and professional activities as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Participate in curriculum development; may be asked to assist with advancement of the respective program.
  • Prepare course outlines based on approved departmental syllabi.
  • Prepare and deliver consistent, interactive undergraduate course lectures in criminal justice which align with curriculum goals.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure curriculum outcomes and accreditation standards are met.
  • Prepare timely and meaningful exams, projects, and assessments for assigned courses.
  • Be available outside of class to help students learn as well as answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically).
  • Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
  • Provide, as assigned, service to the respective department, college, university, community, and profession.
  • Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and processes including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.

    Required Education
    Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or closely related field; ABD in said field with expected completion by assignment start date will be considered.
    Required Work Experience
    Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience in the field at the college or university level with demonstrated instructional competency via student and peer evaluation process.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Two (2) or more years of teaching experience in the field at the college or university level with demonstrated instructional competency via student and peer evaluation process.
