Description

The Department of Business at the University of Montana Western is seeking a faculty member who is a student-centered, passionate, and collaborative educator. We are looking to hire an Instructor (non-tenure track) of Business.  We are seeking someone that can teach business statistics, computer applications, and possibly other general business courses.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a teaching approach that is compatible with Montana Western’s mission and scheduling model. This model, where students take and faculty teach a single eighteen-day course at a time, is the mission of the campus and an unparalleled opportunity for a talented and creative educator. Montana Western is the only public university offering Experience One (X1), experiential learning delivered on the block schedule. The X1 model engages students and faculty in actively exploring the knowledge, purposes, and authentic disciplinary practices of every field of study through experiential learning environments where students take an active role in their own learning. Montana Western’s faculty strongly believe in mentoring and inspiring students and assisting them in the transition from university life to their professional careers.

Faculty teaching responsibilities for the tenure track position include teaching three blocks (12 credits) per semester, leaving one professional development block per semester. The professional development block allows for faculty to focus on service activities and scholarship work. Along with teaching the successful candidate will be expected to maintain professionalism, scholarly productivity, professional service, advising, and committee work.

Faculty teaching responsibilities for the non-tenure track position include teaching four blocks (16 credits) per semester.  The non-tenure track teaching position does not require any additional committee, advising or scholarly productivity.

Requirements

 ·         Hold a master’s degree in business or a related field (in progress will be considered) for the non-tenure track position.

·         Have a minimum of three years of documented work experience in a non-academic setting such as a business or industry setting.
