The Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences invites applications for an Instructor of Nursing. This position is for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track appointment at the Instructor level with 80% teaching and 20% service. This position is expected to teach 24 credit hours per academic year in our undergraduate program.

The Helen and Arthur E Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS)  is a distinguished and innovative college providing excellence in education, scholarship, and practice in the health professions. The college currently serves ~1,400 students (80% undergraduate and 20% graduate) through its programs in the Department of Nursing, the Department of Health Sciences, and the Department of Human Physiology and Nutrition.

Job Duties:

  • Teach undergraduate students
  • Participate on the undergraduate lead faculty team and the department to facilitate the mission, vision and goals
  • Participate in both internal and external professional service activities, community collaboration while demonstrating collabroative interests and collegiality in all aspects of faculty engagement
  • Variable responsibilities in clinical teaching, simulation, classroom, and online

Job Competencies: 

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communitcate effectively with colleagues and students with a wide range of skill levels.
  • Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of interaction.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $60,000 - $64,000 annually

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Tentative Search Timeline:

  • The potential dates for video interviews will be the week of November 22, 2021.
  • The potential dates for second interviews for finalists will be the week of December 6, 2021.
  • The potential employee start date is January 2022.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Nursing from a program with national accreditation
  • Current, unrestricted RN licensure in the State of Colorado or eligible to obtain prior to start of employment
  • Two years of full-time or equivalent, professional nursing clinical experience

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous teaching experience in undergraduate nursing program or adult learning environments
  • Experience related to the teaching of adults, teaching methodology, simulation, curriculum development and evaluation
  • Practice experience in adult health
  • Practice specific national certification

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have long period of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
