The Music program within the School of Performing Arts at Virginia Tech (SOPA) (www.sopa.vt.edu) seeks a candidate at the rank of Instructor for academic year (9-month) appointment with an initial term of two-years. The instructor will teach core classes in the undergraduate sequence for all SOPA majors. Teaching responsibilities will include high-enrollment general education courses as well as courses in applied jazz. This role is also uniquely positioned to serve as an bridge across the music program, opening a myriad of opportunities in teaching. The instructor will be expected to maintain a distinguished record of professional creative work beyond the university.

The School of Performing Arts is one of several schools at the university level supporting creative practice and interdisciplinary work in the arts. The School of Performing Arts includes academic programs in cinema, dance, music, and theatre and produces an extensive season of events in these fields.
