Description of Work Unit
As an academic department at Colorado State University we conduct research in the area of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources (HDNR) and prepare students for careers in conservation leadership and tourism. This area of study focuses on understanding and attending to the needs and values of humans, human society, and culture as they relate to the natural environment. HDNR has more than 90 years of collaborative research in parks and protected areas and contributes to informed decision making while conveying a broad-based understanding of the way humans value, use and depend on the natural environment. HDNR is one of the few programs in the United States that offers a comprehensive bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral program.
The mission of the department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources is to contribute to the conservation, stewardship and enjoyment of natural and cultural resources and the management of those resources in a way that produces both land health and sustainable human benefits.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will participate in joint graduate level degree offerngs provided by Central China Normal University (CCNU) and the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources (HDNR). It includes both the Masters of Tourism Management-China and the new Masters of Parks and Protected Area Management-China. Course delivery involves course preparation, delivery and development of curricular enrichment activities. The position will be be based in Fort Collins, Colorado at Colorado State University with timing consistent with the CCNU academic calendar. The successful candidate will be proficient in both English and Mandarin. Remote participation by the successful candidate will be considered.

Required Job Qualifications
The minimum, required qualifications for this position are:
Master’s degree in parks and protected area management, tourism management, business, or a related field. If the successful candidate holds a , they will be hired as a Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor. If the successful candidate holds a Masters Degree, they will be hired as an Instructor.
English and Mandarin proficiency.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Completed PhD in parks and protected area management, tourism management, business, or a related field.
Demonstrated or potential for excellence in graduate level teaching in topics related to natural resource tourism management.
Demonstrated or potential for excellence in graduate level teaching in topics related to parks and protected area management
Demonstrated or potential for excellence in the designing and delivery of on-line courses.
Demonstrated or potential for excellence in working with individuals from both the United States and China in a coordinated effort to support the online delivery of MTM-China and MPPAM-China coursework.

Essential Duties


Job Duty Category Teaching and Advising
Duty/Responsibility
Teach and provide online instruction via the Canvas learning platform across the MTM-China and MPPAM-China programs as necessary, including course preparation and grading.
Coordinate with lecturers/instructors (including both HDNR faculty and guest speakers) to ensure the delivery of engagement classes in either online synchronous form or face-to-face (if international travel is allowed).

Duty/Responsibility
Administer and ensure the delivery of the MTM-China and MPPAM-China programs online. Collaborate with and assist CCNU members and other faculty to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum and online content in support of the program learning outcomes
Collaborate with CSUOnline, CSU Registrar office, and CSU Graduate School to ensure the course registration and completion for students.
