ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY :
The Department of Medical Education (DME) in the Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) is headed by Dr. Bryan Bognar, Chair & Vice Dean for Educational Affairs. Dr. Bognar is responsible for the oversight of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program and Graduate programs curriculum, all MCOM student services (Student Affairs, Admissions, Student Diversity, the Experiential Learning Center), the School of Physical Therapy, the Athletic Training Education Program, and the Physician Assistant program. The Chair/Vice Dean also works collaboratively with Graduate Medical Education (GME), Continuing Professional Development, and the Deans for the College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and College of Public Health to advance the education mission across the MCOM and USF Health. DME (including the MCOM student services) currently consists of 10 faculty members and ~ 50 administrators / staff members. The primary clients for DME are the medical students, DPT students, PA students, the doctoral, post-doc / masters students, and the faculty / staff educators for the medical and graduate program curriculum.  The department interacts with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and healthcare providers across USF Health, USF, and other institutions.
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Instructor-Senior Statistical Data Analyst supports the RISE faculty Director in the day-to-day activities of the facility, including but not limited to data cleaning, data management, data analyses, helping with scientific papers, and grant writing. They must be experienced in clinical research methods. The Instructor assists in preparing grant proposals, supporting USF faculty research and collaboration, and statistical consulting under the leadership of the RISE faculty director.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Administrative Duties: The Instructor is responsible for managing all databases, drafting a research protocol, developing standardized data extraction forms, extracting various forms of data from published literature or institutional databases, and performing complex data analysis. They draft applications to secure institutional review board approvals. Accountable for the timely submission of progress reports and final reports for relevant projects. Work with the investigators, clinical research coordinators, and other biostatisticians regarding all research project data collection and analysis requirements. They should be proficient in running commercially available statistical software for performing necessary analyses, including querying large databases, combining large datasets, and effectively communicating the results.
Teaching:  The Instructor will teach statistics and public health-related topics and contribute as a small group preceptor at MCOM. Conduct training sessions in statistics/clinical research methods/clinical study design for undergraduate and graduate medical education. They also help train new staff and serve as a resource to Research Faculty and staff on designated topics. The Instructor participates as a team member on RISE projects.
Other:  Train and serve as a resource to research faculty and staff. Responsible for performing a variety of complex data analyses. Accountable for preparing manuscripts and presentation of data at local and national meetings. Maintain quality assessment program, which includes data checking and data storage in electronic and hard copy format and proctoring exams at MCOM. Assist the RISE team members in executing various RISE events.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM :
Masters degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.  Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
PREFERRED :
Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH) in biostatistics/epidemiology/public health/mathematics with some research experience is preferred. Programming in one or more statistical packages such as STATA, SPSS, R, and SAS is preferable.
