Job Summary


The Department of Social Work at Florida Gulf Coast University invites applications for a full-time, continuing appointment, twelve-month position beginning August 2024. Candidate’s primary appointment will be teaching coursework in the MSW and BSW programs.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Teach a 4/4/3 (Fall/Spring/Summer) load of core and/or elective social work courses per academic year courses in the MSW and BSW programs.
  • Provide professional academic advisement to students; contribute to course and/or curriculum development.
  • Actively participate in service to the department, college, university, and community.
  • Serves on department, college committees as required.
  • Attends faculty and college meetings as required.
  • Be available for scheduled office hours as posted.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program.
  • Two years practice experience in clinical social work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching social work courses at either the MSW or BSW level.
  • Expertise in mental health, substance use disorder, trauma-informed care.
  • Experience with the development and delivery of on-line coursework.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge in clinical social work practice.
  • Knowledge and commitment to the NASW Code of Ethics.
  • Knowledge or commitment to the use of technology in university teaching and distance learning.
  • Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value service to the community and university.
