Job Description

The English department at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a renewable contract, 9-month non-tenure track instructor appointment beginning in Fall 2024.

Teaching assignments will consist primarily of first-year writing courses. Teaching schedule may involve face to face, blended, and online course delivery.

Expectations include:

  • Teaching five courses in each regular semester

  • Attending department, college, and university faculty meetings, as well as graduation ceremonies in the Fall or Spring

  • Participating in first year writing curriculum development

  • Participating in departmental governance

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical Communication, or a related field in hand at the time of appointment from a regionally accredited institution

  • Experience teaching college-level writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated evidence of culturally responsive pedagogy, especially in the context of a regional university designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution

  • Experience teaching and advising first-generation students and historically underserved communities

  • Demonstrated evidence of an ability to teach in a range of modalities (face to face, asynchronous online, hybrid, synchronous online)
