Full-time Job Announcement

Position: English Instructor

Location: Athens Campus  

Department: General Education, Online Learning, and Dual Enrollment

Reports to: Divisional Academic Dean

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the use of a variety of teaching techniques appropriate to the discipline and to student learning styles.
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate assessment, testing, grading, student feedback, and record-keeping procedures.
  • Display current knowledge of subject area and how skills being taught apply to the contemporary workplace.
  • Perform student recruitment, enrollment, retention, graduation, and job placement activities.
  • Advise/counsel students on a regular basis and maintain appropriate advisement records.
  • Provide necessary support and assistance to students outside of class by maintaining office hours/access.
  • Adhere to an approved master course syllabus.
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the use of information/instructional technology in course delivery.
  • Demonstrate effective use of the College’s Learning Management System, including grade entries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with 18 semester hours in English.  A master’s degree and / or graduate hours in teaching or education does not meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and work ethic.
  • Willingness to teach at all Athens Technical College locations.
  • Willingness to teach Athens Technical College courses on area high school and career academy campuses.
  • Willingness to teach using all college approved methods (Ex. face-to-face, online, audio / video, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Experience with online teaching platforms, BlackBoard preferred.
