SUMMARY:

The Department of Management and Economics at Texas A&M University-Commerce invites applications for a non-tenure-track Instructor position in Economics for the 2024-2025 academic year. A Master’s degree in Economics or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate level hours in Economics is required. The successful applicant should have a strong interest or demonstrated experience in teaching economics.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach undergraduate courses at different times, locations, and modalities (in person and online).
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students
  • Ensure and stimulate student learning and engagement in and outside the classroom
  • Assist students with networking and building relationships with industry professionals
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to implement departmental programs
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, public schools, and community

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Economics or a closely related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 18 graduate level hours in Economics
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills; Commitment to high quality teaching; interpersonal skills to collaborate with a team of professionals

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD. in Economics or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

DESIRED QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCES:

  • Experience or high potential in and/or professional development
  • Experience in online course delivery
  • Experience or high potential in teaching in an active learning environment and with innovative teaching strategies
  • Prior professional work experience in the field of economics
  • Professional credentials
  • Experience or high potential in mentoring and advising undergraduate students
  • Experience or high potential in fostering a sense of belonging for all students, including traditionally underserved populations such as those in the northeast Texas region
  • Experience or high potential in recruitment and/or retention of undergraduate and/or graduate students
  • Collegiality, humility, and welcoming of feedback
