Cornell Architecture Design Teaching Fellowship College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP), Cornell University The Department of Architecture at Cornell University is launching a search for two to four Design Teaching Fellowship positions for instruction and research/creative practice, to begin August 16, 2023. The Fellowship is a nine-month position (renewable for up to two academic years) within Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning in Ithaca, NY, at the rank of Instructor. Each fellowship centers on teaching in the first-year undergraduate architectural design program, alongside teaching mentors, within an established Teaching Mentorship framework. In addition to design studio teaching, Fellows will have the opportunity to teach one elective seminar that facilitates exploration into the Fellow’s research/creative practice trajectory, and to have one semester free from teaching a second class, to focus on developing their research/creative practice independently, culminating in an exhibition and/or public presentation. Fellowships are intended to support the teaching and research/creative practice of exceptional emerging designers /architects (ideally 2+ years after completion of their undergraduate education). Candidates should propose a research/creative project to be shaped and developed during their year, while also considering potential interfaces with foundational design pedagogy. Cornell Architecture welcomes innovative transdisciplinary thinking that expands the scope and potential of contemporary architecture and its practice. Architecture at Cornell dates to the founding of the institution; it is one of the oldest programs of its kind and has a long and distinguished tradition of design, scholarship, and teaching. Degree programs in the Department include a professional bachelor of architecture (B.Arch.); a professional master of architecture (M.Arch.); post-professional master of science (M.S.) degrees in advanced architectural design and advanced urban design; M.S. degrees in computer graphics and matter design computation; and a Ph.D. in the history of architecture and urban development. Cornell architecture students and faculty have opportunities to take advantage of the Rand Hall Fabrication Shop, a world-renowned library collection, and participate in an expanded footprint that includes AAP NYC (https://aap.cornell.edu/academics/nyc ), Cornell Tech ( https://www.tech.cornell.edu/ ), and Cornell in Rome ( https://aap.cornell.edu/about/our-locations/cornell-rome ). The Department of Architecture engages urgent global issues through a foundation in conceptual thinking and processes of making. We are committed to the transformation of contemporary architectural practice in response to evolving and dynamic social, environmental, and technological contexts. A professional degree in architecture is considered a necessity for this position (B.Arch or M.Arch). Responsibilities will include teaching at undergraduate levels, research, advising and service. Cornell graduates are encouraged to apply. Compensation:
